Yacht Charter Monaco

Yacht Charter Monaco

Yacht charter Monaco, arranged personally from Port Hercule. LYC Monaco is a private concierge for guests booking a Monaco yacht charter — day trips along the Cap, weekend runs to Saint-Tropez, weekly Riviera cruises and superyacht weeks for the Grand Prix and Monaco Yacht Show.

A yacht charter Monaco is not simply the rental of a boat. It is the private key to a stretch of coastline where the Alps meet the Mediterranean — where a morning coffee in Port Hercule can turn into lunch off Cap Ferrat, an afternoon anchored at the Îles de Lérins, and dinner in Portofino by nightfall. For more than a century Monaco has been the harbour of choice for owners and charter guests alike, and it remains the natural place from which to begin any Riviera cruise.

At LYC Monaco we work exclusively on Monaco yacht charters, and only for a small number of clients each season. Every charter yacht Monaco brief we accept starts with a private conversation — dates, guests, style, budget — and moves quietly through a curated shortlist toward a single, well-fitted yacht and a captain who suits the guest list. There is no fleet page you must choose from; there is only the right yacht for your week.

The service

Private Crewed Yacht Charters from Monaco

Every Monaco yacht charter we arrange is fully crewed and privately chartered — the yacht, the crew and the itinerary are yours alone for the duration of the booking. There are no shared cabins, no other guests and no fixed departure schedule.

The crew on board

Depending on the size of the yacht, a Monaco yacht charter crew typically includes a captain, first mate, chief stewardess and interior team, a private chef, engineer and deckhands. On superyachts of 40 metres and above, expect a crew of eight to fifteen, including dedicated tender drivers and dive specialists. Every captain and chef is briefed on your preferences before boarding — dietary requirements, cabin allocation, sleeping schedule and privacy needs.

The MYBA charter agreement

Every charter yacht Monaco booking is contracted under the MYBA agreement — the industry-standard document used across the western Mediterranean. It defines the base fee, itinerary, cancellation terms, insurance and each party's obligations. As your concierge, LYC Monaco reviews the contract with the yacht's central agent on your behalf.

Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA)

The APA is a running expense float, typically 25–35% of the base fee, that covers fuel, provisioning, berthing, communications and any special requests during the Monaco yacht charter. The captain accounts against it in real time and refunds any unspent balance at the end of the charter.

Discretion and privacy

Monaco's port authority, private security and press-free berth culture make Port Hercule one of the most discreet harbours in the Mediterranean. Every Monaco yacht charter with LYC Monaco is arranged under NDA on request; crew contracts include confidentiality clauses.

Inclusions

What Is Included in a Monaco Yacht Charter?

A Monaco yacht charter is priced as a base fee plus an APA. The base fee covers the yacht and crew; running costs are billed transparently against the APA.

Included in the base fee
The yacht itself, captain and full crew, uniforms, standard hospitality, yacht insurance, water toys and tenders carried on board, and the crew's own provisions and salaries.
Fuel, food and berthing (APA)
Fuel for the yacht and its tenders, provisioning of food and beverages, port fees, dockage, communications and shore-side expenses are billed against the Advance Provisioning Allowance — typically 25–35% of the base fee — and reconciled to actual costs at the end of the charter.
VAT and taxes
VAT depends on the flag of the yacht, the itinerary and the applicable jurisdiction. French VAT on a Monaco yacht charter is generally 20% with a possible reduction for time spent in international waters. Your concierge confirms the applicable rate before contract.
Water toys and tenders
Most yachts we arrange for a charter yacht Monaco booking carry a jet-tender, seabobs, paddleboards, e-foils and inflatables. Larger superyachts add limousine tenders, dive compressors, jet skis and towed toys.
Not included — optional services
Helicopter transfers, private jets, land-side chefs, security details, event access, restaurant reservations and land programmes sit outside the yacht contract. LYC Monaco arranges each on request as part of the concierge service.
Delivery and repositioning
If you begin a Monaco yacht charter in Monaco but disembark in Saint-Tropez or Portofino, or vice versa, a small delivery or repositioning fee may apply. Charters that begin and end in Port Hercule generally do not.

Routes

Popular Yacht Charter Routes from Monaco

Port Hercule opens onto two Rivieras. A Monaco yacht charter can cruise westward through France to Saint-Tropez or Cannes, eastward into Italy for Portofino and the Cinque Terre, or southward on an overnight passage to Corsica and Sardinia. The routes below are the most requested charter yacht Monaco itineraries.

French Riviera — West

Monaco → Saint-Tropez

≈ 90 NM · 6–8 hours cruising

The classic westbound Monaco yacht charter — Cap Ferrat, Villefranche, Cannes and the Îles de Lérins by day, dinner in Antibes, and lunch at Club 55 in Saint-Tropez. Best in June, July and September.

Italian Riviera — East

Monaco → Portofino

≈ 90 NM · 6–7 hours cruising

A shorter, greener passage than the French run. Overnight in San Remo, cocktails at the Splendido in Portofino, and lunch on the Ligurian coast. The signature eastbound charter yacht Monaco route.

Islands

Monaco → Corsica → Sardinia

≈ 180 NM · overnight passage

For a full week aboard. Bonifacio, the Lavezzi islands and northern Sardinia offer some of the clearest anchorages in the Mediterranean, and the most memorable Monaco yacht charters cover them.

Day cruise

Monaco → Cap Ferrat → Èze

≈ 15 NM · 4–6 hours

The default day yacht charter Monaco route. A lazy loop past Cap-d'Ail, lunch at anchor off Villefranche or Paloma Beach, an afternoon swim at Sans-Culottes, and home before evening service.

Weekend

Monaco → Cannes → Îles de Lérins

≈ 60 NM round trip

Two nights on board. Cannes for the promenade and Palm Beach, then Saint-Honorat and Sainte-Marguerite for anchored lunches. A short, well-paced weekend Monaco yacht charter.

Event

Monaco Grand Prix — Port Hercule berth

Static berth, race weekend

For the Grand Prix, a Monaco yacht charter is booked as a static Port Hercule berth inside the circuit. The yacht is your grandstand, dining room and hotel for four days.

Event weeks

Two weeks a year Monaco becomes the global centre of the yacht world — the Grand Prix and the Monaco Yacht Show. A Monaco yacht charter during these weeks is the closest berth to the action.

FAQ

Yacht Charter Monaco: Frequently Asked Questions

A short reference on the questions we most often receive from guests planning their first Monaco yacht charter.

How much does a yacht charter in Monaco cost?

A yacht charter Monaco base fee typically starts near €8,000 for a day on a smaller motor yacht and rises to €1,500,000+ per week for large superyachts during the Grand Prix or Monaco Yacht Show. The base fee covers the yacht and its crew; fuel, food, berthing and taxes are billed separately through an APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance), usually 25–35% of the base fee.

What is the difference between a Monaco yacht charter and a Monaco yacht rental?

In practice they describe the same service. Charter yacht Monaco contracts are governed by the MYBA agreement — the industry-standard document used across the western Mediterranean — with a professional captain and crew on board, an APA for running costs, and a defined itinerary. 'Yacht rental' is simply a more casual term for the same booking.

How far in advance should I book a Monaco yacht charter?

For the Monaco Grand Prix and Monaco Yacht Show, most Monaco yacht charters are contracted 9–12 months ahead. For standard July–August weeks, three to six months' lead time is comfortable. Day charter yacht Monaco departures from Port Hercule can sometimes be arranged within a week, subject to availability.

Can I book a Monaco yacht charter for just one day?

Yes. Day yacht charter Monaco departures leave Port Hercule for cruises along Cap Ferrat, Villefranche and Èze, or as far as the Îles de Lérins. A day Monaco yacht charter typically costs €8,000–€25,000 depending on the vessel, crew and itinerary.

What destinations can I reach on a yacht charter from Monaco?

From Port Hercule you can reach Saint-Tropez, Cannes and the Îles de Lérins on the French Riviera; Portofino, Portovenere and the Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera; and Corsica and Sardinia within an overnight passage. A weekly charter yacht Monaco itinerary comfortably combines two or three of these regions.

Do I need a licence to charter a yacht in Monaco?

No. All crewed Monaco yacht charters include a qualified captain and crew. You do not need a boating licence — you are a guest on board, and the captain retains full responsibility for the yacht.

What is the difference between a yacht charter and a superyacht charter in Monaco?

'Superyacht' generally refers to yachts over roughly 24 metres. Smaller Monaco yacht charters suit short cruises and lower budgets; a superyacht charter offers larger interiors, multiple decks, more crew and space for water toys and tenders, at a materially higher rate.

Are food, drinks and fuel included in a Monaco yacht charter?

No. Under the standard MYBA charter agreement used across Monaco and the Mediterranean, food, beverages, fuel, berthing, communications and other operating expenses are covered by the APA, typically 25–35% of the base charter fee, and settled against actual costs at the end of the charter.

Where does a Monaco yacht charter depart from?

Almost every charter yacht Monaco departure begins from Port Hercule, the principality's deep natural harbour. Some larger superyachts board guests from Cap-d'Ail, Nice or Antibes; your concierge confirms the exact berth and boarding logistics before departure.
