Why a full week
A week is the length at which a charter genuinely relaxes. Shorter charters spend most of their time moving; longer charters occasionally lose the sense of occasion. Seven days from Monaco give guests two calm days at anchor, three days of coastal cruising, an overnight in a signature harbour and a day set aside for whatever the group wants — a beach club, a golf morning, a quiet meal ashore. That rhythm is what makes a Mediterranean week feel like a proper holiday rather than a hosted transfer.
Sample itinerary — Monaco to Corsica and return
Day 1: board Monaco 15:00; short evening cruise to Cap Ferrat; dinner aboard. Day 2: overnight passage to Calvi; morning at anchor off the citadel; lunch aboard; evening ashore. Day 3: cruise south along the west coast; Girolata for the afternoon; overnight in a quiet anchorage. Day 4: reach Bonifacio; harbour arrival is one of the great yachting moments; evening ashore. Day 5: Lavezzi archipelago for the day; return to Bonifacio or reposition north. Day 6: overnight passage back toward the French coast; anchor off Cannes. Day 7: leisurely morning at Cap d'Antibes; return to Monaco for late-afternoon disembarkation.

Price factors and what shapes the total
The week is quoted in three parts: the base charter fee (the yacht and its crew for seven days), the APA at 25–35% of the base fee to cover running expenses, and taxes depending on flag and itinerary. Base fees for a well-appointed week from Monaco start around €80,000 for smaller motor yachts, sit typically between €150,000 and €400,000 for 30–45 metre yachts, and rise into the millions for large superyachts during event weeks. Corsica-and-Sardinia weeks tend to draw more fuel than a Riviera-only itinerary.
APA and fuel across a week
Fuel is the largest single APA item across a week and depends heavily on cruising speed. A displacement week cruising at 12 knots draws a fraction of the fuel of a planing week at 22 knots. A Corsica week involves more open-water passage than a French Riviera week and carries a heavier fuel line. Provisioning to a chef-led preference sheet, premium wines and repeated night dockage in Saint-Tropez or Portofino are the other meaningful lines. Embarkation and disembarkation
Standard Med charters embark in the afternoon of Day 1 and disembark before lunch on Day 7, with the yacht cleaned and re-provisioned between charters. Where possible, we shape the timing around flight arrivals — earlier boarding on Day 1 is often possible, and a late-morning disembarkation on Day 7 rather than a hard 09:00 is often achievable outside peak weeks. The preference sheet, signed a few weeks before boarding, sets the specifics.
Yacht size by group
For a couple or a small family of four, 24–30 metres is often ideal — intimate, easy to move, and typically the more elegant option. Six to eight guests fit comfortably on 30–40 metres. Ten to twelve guests — the Mediterranean sleeping cap on most yachts — call for 40+ metres and a full crew. Multi-generational family weeks with children benefit from generous shaded deck space and a beach club, both of which are more common on larger yachts.
Family and multi-generational planning
A week is the length at which multi-generational travel works well. Cabin allocation matters: parents and young children in adjacent cabins, grandparents on a quieter deck. The chef plans dual menus (a formal dinner for the adults with a simpler earlier service for children). Passages are kept short so the youngest and oldest guests are always comfortable. Quieter anchorages are prioritised over busy ports on days when the group needs to reset.
Booking horizon
For a specific yacht in July or August, plan four to six months ahead. For Grand Prix or Yacht Show weeks, plan nine to twelve months ahead. Weeks in the shoulder season — late May, early June, late September, early October — often have the finest cruising conditions and can occasionally be arranged inside two months.
