Yacht management in Monaco is a specialised profession delivered by a handful of established firms — companies with in-house naval architects, ISM auditors, crew departments and yacht accountants. LYC Monaco is not one of those firms. We are a Monaco-based yacht-charter concierge, and on the ownership side we work as the charter-management partner alongside a management company we introduce or with the one the owner already uses.
In practice: technical, ISM compliance, crew payroll, insurance and finance run through the management company; the MYBA central agency, marketing, calendar, bookings, race-week positioning and guest programme run through LYC Monaco. The two firms coordinate, the owner sees one calendar and one reporting rhythm. Operational and Technical Yacht Management
The operational and technical file is the day-to-day reality of running a yacht. It covers the engineering department (planned maintenance system, class survey schedule, refit windows), purchasing and logistics (spares, provisioning, uniforms, fuel and lube contracts), berthing and shipyard relationships (Port Hercule, Monaco Marine, La Ciotat, Barcelona), and the interface with builders and warranty engineers on newer yachts.
This is a full-time job for a shore-side team with marine engineering experience — it is the reason yacht management as a profession exists. Under the LYC Monaco arrangement, an owner is introduced to a Monaco management company whose technical team takes this file, and LYC Monaco stays coordinated with them on any items that touch the charter calendar (yard periods, warranty items during charter, extraordinary refit windows).

Crew Recruitment and Administration
Crew is the single largest variable cost on a Monaco-based yacht and the single largest driver of guest experience. The management partner runs recruitment against a captain-approved brief, negotiates salaries at market rates for the flag and the size band, handles contracts under the Maritime Labour Convention and the yacht's flag state, and administers payroll through a designated crew-employment entity.
Ongoing crew administration includes ENG1 medicals, STCW and specialist certifications (yacht rating, powerboat, HELM, chief-stew culinary), annual appraisals, rotation scheduling on larger crews, and the disciplinary process. On the LYC Monaco side, we brief the on-board team ahead of each charter booking so guest preferences, dietary requirements, service style and privacy needs are known before the guests step aboard — but the crew's employer is the management company.

Financial Management and Reporting
The management company operates the yacht's bank accounts, approves supplier invoices against the annual budget, and produces monthly management accounts to the owner or the owning company's finance office. The annual budget is agreed each winter and covers dockage, crew salaries, insurance, planned maintenance, victualling, fuel projections and refit sinking-fund contributions.
On the charter side, LYC Monaco administers the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) during each charter and produces a reconciled charter statement for the owner within ten working days of disembarkation. Charter revenue is remitted to the owner's account or the owning company's account against the MYBA charter agreement; commission and third-party broker fees are settled from the same statement.

Compliance, Insurance and Documentation
Compliance work on a commercially registered yacht is substantial: ISM Code (safety management system, drills, internal audit, flag-state audit), ISPS (security), MLC 2006 (crew welfare), Class survey cycle, MARPOL, and flag-state specific instruments. The management partner holds the designated person ashore role and owns the compliance calendar.
Insurance covers hull and machinery, P&I, war risk where applicable, and crew medical and repatriation cover. Documentary housekeeping — registration, radio licence, ship's registry filings, charter certificates, and VAT registrations depending on the operating structure — is handled centrally by the management partner. LYC Monaco's role is to keep the charter calendar aligned with the compliance calendar so nothing books over a scheduled audit or dry-dock.

Yacht Charter Management
Charter management is the section LYC Monaco owns. Under a MYBA central agency mandate we take responsibility for the whole commercial and guest-facing side of the yacht's charter year.

Exclusive representation under MYBA terms, distributed to the international retail-broker network on standard commercial terms.
Calendar & availability
Live calendar showing owner blocks, confirmed charters and holds. Every enquiry runs against the same source of truth.
Charter contracts
MYBA charter agreement, VAT and delivery/redelivery clauses drafted per booking; deposit and balance schedule managed to the day.

Marketing Your Yacht for Charter
Marketing a yacht for charter is a defined workflow. It begins with the visual brief — a coordinated photo and video shoot in the Mediterranean, drone footage of the yacht at anchor, an interior walkthrough, a signature dish sequence from the galley, and standing-crew portraits. LYC Monaco produces the brief, sources the shoot team, and delivers a listing package the industry recognises.
From there: central-agency listing on the main platforms, syndication to the retail broker network with clean rate cards, calendar visibility across the summer season, and specific positioning for the two Monaco event weeks — the Formula 1 Grand Prix in late May and the Monaco Yacht Show in late September, where the yacht can be listed at premium event-week rates. Editorial coverage on this site (destination features, itinerary write-ups, event guides) is included and adds long-tail search visibility.
Rate strategy is reviewed twice a year. Base weekly rates, short-charter uplifts (day and long-weekend), event-week surcharges and end-of-season adjustments are set in consultation with the owner and reviewed against the comparable-fleet benchmark for the size and age band.
