Superyacht Charter Monaco

By convention, a superyacht is 40 metres (about 130 feet) or longer, typically over 500 GT, with a full professional crew of ten or more. A monaco superyacht charter arranged by LYC Monaco starts at that threshold and extends to 90m+ vessels. Below 40m, we place the charter through the standard yacht charter service.

Mediterranean maritime law caps private charter yachts at 12 sleeping guests regardless of the yacht's length. A 40m superyacht and a 90m superyacht therefore both carry a maximum of 12 overnight guests — what scale buys is space per guest, staff ratio, tender and toy inventory, and range. Above 12 sleeping guests we arrange a second superyacht cruising in company.

A 40–50m superyacht typically runs €200,000–€400,000 per week base fee; a 50–60m sits at €400,000–€700,000; 60–80m runs €700,000–€1,500,000; 80m+ starts at €1.5M and can exceed €3M per week. Add APA (30–35%) for fuel, provisioning and berthing, plus VAT in EU waters. Event weeks (Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Yacht Show) add 30–100% to the base fee.

The terms overlap. A super yacht charter Monaco brief typically means 40m+; a mega yacht charter Monaco brief typically means 60m+ or 80m+ depending on who you ask. Industry usage is not standardised — LYC Monaco uses the shorthand loosely and quotes both under the same MYBA charter agreement.

Yes. Larger superyachts carry a certified helideck for full landings; many carry a touch-and-go platform for guest transfers. Where the yacht has neither, we arrange helicopter transfers directly from Monaco heliport in Fontvieille or from Nice airport to the nearest port to the yacht — coordinated with the yacht's captain.

Every LYC Monaco superyacht crew signs an NDA as standard. Where guests require it, we arrange additional discretion — anonymised booking, a security officer on board, secure comms, and coordination with a personal protection team ashore. The client's identity is never disclosed to the yacht's marketing agent until contract stage.

Most superyachts require a seven-night minimum during peak weeks (July, August, Grand Prix, Monaco Yacht Show). Outside those weeks, five-night, four-night and even weekend charters are placeable on selected yachts. Day-only charters on a 40m+ superyacht are unusual but possible on a case-by-case basis.

For a summer week outside event dates, three to six months. For Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Yacht Show or mid-August peak, six to twelve months. The most requested yachts to charter a superyacht in Monaco for event weeks are typically committed a full year in advance.
