Length overall — 40m+
Industry convention places the superyacht threshold at 40 metres (roughly 130 feet). Mega yacht charter Monaco briefs typically start higher — 60m or 80m, depending on the speaker.

Superyacht Charter Monaco
Superyacht charter Monaco, from 40 metres up. LYC Monaco arranges private superyachts from Port Hercule with a full professional crew, discreet placement and a shore-side concierge sized to the yacht — Riviera weeks, Corsican crossings, and event-week berths.
A superyacht charter Monaco brief is a different problem from a standard yacht charter — even when the destination and the contract are the same. Above forty metres the yacht becomes an operation: multi-deck architecture, a crew of ten to twenty-five, a beach club, a tender fleet and range for Corsica or the Balearics without refuelling. The concierge that surrounds it has to be scaled to match.
Monaco is the natural home for that operation. Port Hercule holds the deep-water berths, the Yacht Club de Monaco quay receives the flagships, and the shore-side infrastructure — helicopter, private aviation, private banking, security — already exists at superyacht scale. This page sets out how a monaco superyacht charter is actually put together, and what a private proposal from LYC Monaco covers.

At any point in the season several hundred superyachts are marketed for charter across the Mediterranean; LYC Monaco has active relationships with the central agents behind roughly four hundred of them, plus a private route to a comparable number that are placed off-market. If you already have a yacht's name — or you know only the specification — we test availability directly with the yacht's management team.
Definition
Six markers separate a super yacht charter Monaco brief from a mid-size motor yacht charter. Any three, together, put the request into superyacht territory.
Industry convention places the superyacht threshold at 40 metres (roughly 130 feet). Mega yacht charter Monaco briefs typically start higher — 60m or 80m, depending on the speaker.
Above 500 GT, a yacht falls into a regulatory band that requires expanded safety systems, larger crews and more rigorous surveys — the operational marker of a real superyacht.
Three decks minimum — main, upper, sun — with a beach club, a garage for tenders and toys, dedicated crew quarters and often a fourth deck for owner or spa.
A crew of ten and up, with distinct roles: captain, officers, engineers, executive chef, interior team, deck team, dive-master. Crew-to-guest ratios of 1:1 or better.
Limo tender, sport tender, rescue tender, seabobs, e-foils, jet skis, paddle boards, inflatables. Larger yachts carry submersibles and dedicated dive gear.
Fuel and displacement sufficient for Corsica, Sardinia, the Balearics or a longer Adriatic crossing without a refuelling stop. Sea-keeping to match.
On board
Overnight capacity is capped at twelve guests by Mediterranean maritime law, whatever the length. Above forty metres, what scale buys is space per guest, dedicated crew quarters and the amenities that turn a yacht into a floating private residence.
A typical layout: full-beam master on the main or upper deck, a VIP suite forward or aft, four or five guest cabins on the lower deck. Children's cabins convert between twin and double. Above 60m, an owner's apartment on the upper deck adds a private study, dressing room and dedicated crew access.
Every private superyacht Monaco carries a full toy inventory — seabobs, e-foils, jet skis, paddle boards, inflatables, wakeboards. Larger yachts add submersibles and dedicated dive gear.
A limo tender for guest transfers, a sport tender for watersports, a rescue tender to standard. Above 60m, three or four tenders on davits or in-hull garages.
Touch-and-go platforms on many 60m+ yachts; certified helidecks on select flagships. Where the yacht has neither, transfers coordinate through Monaco heliport.
Gym, spa, hammam, sauna, cinema and sun-deck jacuzzi to standard on 60m+. Private trainers and therapists are arranged through the shore-side concierge.
Crew & concierge
A superyacht's service standard is set by two things: the size and discipline of its crew, and the shore-side concierge that supports it. LYC Monaco arranges both, sized to the yacht and the guest manifest.
40–50m superyachts carry 10–14 crew; 50–70m carries 16–22; 70m+ carries 25 or more. Every LYC Monaco superyacht crew is MCA/STCW-certified and hired for the season, not the week.
Captain, first officer, second officer, chief engineer with one or two engineers, an ETO on larger yachts. Route planning, weather routing and port negotiations run from the bridge; the guest sees a briefing each morning.
A dedicated executive chef with a private-service or Michelin-restaurant background, plus a sous chef on 60m+. Menus are calibrated to guest preferences, allergies and dietary requirements before boarding, and provisioning runs through a bespoke wine and produce list.
Service standards, cabin turn-downs, wine service, laundry and every guest-facing detail on the interior. Ratios of 1:2 or better crew-to-guest on 60m+, dropping to 1:1 on the largest yachts.
Watersports specialist for family briefs; on request a discreet security officer, briefed with the client's personal protection team ashore. Every crew member signs an NDA as standard.
LYC Monaco arranges private jets, helicopter transfers, restaurant bookings across Monte-Carlo, Saint-Tropez and Portofino, private tastings, event access, family and nanny arrangements, medical retainer and any bespoke requests. One number, day and night.
Itineraries
A superyacht's range changes the map. Three sample itineraries — each drafted around a real guest brief we've placed — show what a monaco superyacht charter reaches once you leave Port Hercule.
7 nights · Riviera
10 nights · Corsica
14 nights · Western Med
Every itinerary above is a starting draft, not a fixed plan. The captain reviews weather, sea state, event calendars (Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Yacht Show) and guest pace, and adjusts daily. Fuel, berthing and port dues flow through the APA rather than the base fee.
Pricing
Every Monaco superyacht charter is quoted as a base fee, plus APA (30–35% on superyachts), plus VAT in EU waters. Crew gratuity — typically 5–15% of the base fee — is at guest discretion at charter-end.
Bespoke provisioning — a private wine sommelier, rare vintages, Michelin-level chef briefs, exotic produce, a floral programme — is a distinct line inside the APA, agreed before boarding. For band-by-band ranges across the whole fleet, see the full Monaco yacht charter price guide.
Add VAT at rates dependent on cruising itinerary. Event weeks (Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, mid-August peak) add 30–100% to the base fee. Rent superyacht Monaco quotes below €200,000 all-in are typically 30–40m motor yachts placed through the standard charter service.
Private proposal
Send the brief below. Within 24 hours the concierge returns a private shortlist of Monaco superyachts — on-market and off-market — with photography, sample menus and all-in indicative pricing. NDA available on request.
Guest identity is never shared with the yacht's marketing agent before contract. Every crew signs an NDA as standard. On request we arrange anonymised booking, a security officer on board and secure comms — coordinated with the client's personal protection team ashore.
FAQ
Common questions on a private monaco superyacht charter — size, crew, cost and discretion.
By convention, a superyacht is 40 metres (about 130 feet) or longer, typically over 500 GT, with a full professional crew of ten or more. A monaco superyacht charter arranged by LYC Monaco starts at that threshold and extends to 90m+ vessels. Below 40m, we place the charter through the standard yacht charter service.
Mediterranean maritime law caps private charter yachts at 12 sleeping guests regardless of the yacht's length. A 40m superyacht and a 90m superyacht therefore both carry a maximum of 12 overnight guests — what scale buys is space per guest, staff ratio, tender and toy inventory, and range. Above 12 sleeping guests we arrange a second superyacht cruising in company.
A 40–50m superyacht typically runs €200,000–€400,000 per week base fee; a 50–60m sits at €400,000–€700,000; 60–80m runs €700,000–€1,500,000; 80m+ starts at €1.5M and can exceed €3M per week. Add APA (30–35%) for fuel, provisioning and berthing, plus VAT in EU waters. Event weeks (Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Yacht Show) add 30–100% to the base fee.
The terms overlap. A super yacht charter Monaco brief typically means 40m+; a mega yacht charter Monaco brief typically means 60m+ or 80m+ depending on who you ask. Industry usage is not standardised — LYC Monaco uses the shorthand loosely and quotes both under the same MYBA charter agreement.
Yes. Larger superyachts carry a certified helideck for full landings; many carry a touch-and-go platform for guest transfers. Where the yacht has neither, we arrange helicopter transfers directly from Monaco heliport in Fontvieille or from Nice airport to the nearest port to the yacht — coordinated with the yacht's captain.
Every LYC Monaco superyacht crew signs an NDA as standard. Where guests require it, we arrange additional discretion — anonymised booking, a security officer on board, secure comms, and coordination with a personal protection team ashore. The client's identity is never disclosed to the yacht's marketing agent until contract stage.
Yes. A meaningful share of the world's finest superyachts are chartered privately, never listed on public search engines. If you have a specific yacht in mind — or a specification only — our concierge approaches the yacht's management directly under NDA to test availability for your dates. This is a core part of how we rent superyacht Monaco briefs are actually placed.
Most superyachts require a seven-night minimum during peak weeks (July, August, Grand Prix, Monaco Yacht Show). Outside those weeks, five-night, four-night and even weekend charters are placeable on selected yachts. Day-only charters on a 40m+ superyacht are unusual but possible on a case-by-case basis.
For a summer week outside event dates, three to six months. For Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Yacht Show or mid-August peak, six to twelve months. The most requested yachts to charter a superyacht in Monaco for event weeks are typically committed a full year in advance.
