Boat charter Monaco — dayboats, cruisers and open craft.

Boat charter in Monaco starts at Port Hercule and takes in Cap-Ferrat, Villefranche, Èze-sur-Mer and the Italian border. This page covers the smaller-craft end of the fleet: 12–22m open dayboats, sport cruisers and motor yachts you can rent for a half-day, a full day or a weekend.

For weekly charters and 24m+ motor yachts, see our dedicated pages on yacht charter Monaco and superyacht charter Monaco. If you're comparing this to yacht hire, both terms lead to the same fleet — see yacht hire Monaco for the day-rental angle.

The Monaco boat fleet.

Riva Aquariva, Rivarama, Rivamare (10–14m). The signature Monaco dayboat. Mahogany, chrome, open cockpit. Best for cocktail runs to Villefranche and Cap-Ferrat, short lunch stops. Skipper included.

Wajer 38, 55, 77 (12–24m). Dutch-built open cruisers with a full crew, marble bathroom, and sun pads for eight to twelve. Best for a full day out of Monaco with lunch on board.

Frauscher 858 Fantom, 1414 Demon (9–14m). Austrian day-cruisers built around the driving experience. Fast, quiet, sharp. Best for guests who want to cover distance — Portofino in a day is achievable.

Axopar 37, 45 (11–14m). The workhorse of the Riviera day-rental fleet. Enclosed wheelhouse, weather-proof, family-friendly. Best for shoulder-season and mixed weather.

Sunseeker Predator, Manhattan (18–24m). The step up into sport-cruiser territory. Full crew, master cabin for a day rest, tender for shore transfers. Best for a full day out with fifteen to twenty guests.

For the full inventory including 24m+ motor yachts, see the yacht fleet.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a boat charter and a yacht charter in Monaco?+

In practice the terms overlap. 'Boat charter Monaco' usually refers to smaller open dayboats and cruisers (12–22m) taken for a half-day or full-day out of Port Hercule. 'Yacht charter Monaco' covers the same vessels plus larger motor yachts and superyachts, typically for full days, weekends or full weeks. If you want a day on the water in Monaco, both terms lead to the same fleet — start with a day rental on a Riva, Wajer, Frauscher or Sunseeker Predator.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Monaco?+

Half-day boat rentals on a 15–18m open dayboat (Riva Aquariva, Wajer 55, Frauscher 858 Fantom) start around €3,000–€5,000 all-in in high season. A full day on the same yacht is €4,000–€8,000. Larger 20–24m motor yachts run €6,000–€12,000 per day. All-in prices include the skipper, crew where applicable, and fuel to a fair-usage cap.

Can I rent a boat in Monaco without a licence?+

Every boat we offer includes a professional captain. You do not need a licence, sea experience, or previous chartering experience to rent a boat in Monaco through LYC. If you hold your own licence and want to helm, tell us at enquiry and we'll shortlist boats where owner-operator is permitted (limited).

Where do boat charters depart from in Monaco?+

Port Hercule (Quai des États-Unis or Quai Rainier III) is the standard departure. Smaller open dayboats can also collect from Cap-d'Ail, Fontvieille or the Larvotto tender pontoon on request. Champagne welcome is standard on all bookings.

What can I do on a day boat charter from Monaco?+

The classic run is west to Cap-Ferrat and Villefranche for lunch on board or at Paloma Beach, then Èze-sur-Mer swim stops and back to Monaco. East runs Menton and the Italian border; longer days reach Portofino (4h each way at cruising speed). Every itinerary is tailored to the yacht, the season and your party.

How far in advance should I book a boat rental in Monaco?+

Standard summer weekdays (June/July/August): 2–4 weeks. Weekends and Bank Holidays: 4–8 weeks. Grand Prix and Yacht Show weeks: 6–9 months minimum. Same-week bookings are sometimes possible but the fleet compresses fast in high season.
