The Monaco Yacht Show is the most concentrated week of the international yachting calendar. Every major shipyard, brokerage and design studio is present at Port Hercule, and the newest and most significant yachts in the world are on display. For clients considering a build, a purchase, or serious about understanding the top of the market, a chartered yacht moored inside the harbour becomes the natural base — a short walk from the Show floor, private for meetings, and staffed to host morning through evening.

Berthing during Show week is genuinely limited — the harbour absorbs the Show yachts, exhibitor tenders and a handful of owner-approved charter yachts, and nothing more. The Show occupies most of the Quai Antoine 1er, the Darse Sud and the Quai Rainier III. Yachts placed for charter clients sit outside those exhibitor zones — the T-jetty, the Quai Louis II by the Yacht Club de Monaco, and stern-to along the northern quays. Every berth is walking distance to the Show entrance; the furthest is under seven minutes on foot.

Not every yacht in Monaco during Show week is available for charter. Many are owner-used for the week, guest-listed to the Show, or repositioning between events. The charter fleet available for Show week is small and vetted; LYC Monaco confirms which yachts are genuinely open at enquiry and coordinates berthing subject to Monaco Port Authority confirmation.

For yachts above 90 metres — where Port Hercule berthing is not feasible for the requested dates — Cap d'Ail (a five-minute drive west) and Antibes IYCA (thirty minutes with a helicopter option) are the standard alternatives. The yacht sits at the alternative berth and guests transfer to a Show-side base by chauffeur or private tender.

How the Show week is used aboard

As a private accommodation and meeting base. Clients work the Show by day and host quietly by night. Cabins for the party, a private dining room for scheduled meetings, an aft-deck breakfast that runs on the guests' schedule rather than a hotel's.

As a private hosting venue. Lunches, drinks and evening dinners for shipyard, brokerage and designer meetings held privately on board. The chef and interior team run to a brief that reflects the day's schedule.

As a Show-adjacent introduction platform. Where a client is genuinely evaluating a new build or purchase, quiet on-board presentations from shipyard senior teams — held away from the Show floor and its footfall — carry a different weight than a stand appointment.

For a small group of principals. Show week is intense; a yacht separates the working programme from the visible one and lets the day close on private terms.

Yacht size and format for Monaco Yacht Show week

40–50 metres. The comfortable size for a Show-week base for a party of six to ten. Full crew, chef-led hosting, a dining aft deck for twelve. Weekly rates from €140,000.

50–70 metres. Adds a beach club, more entertaining space and, on some yachts, a helicopter touch-and-go platform. Suits parties of eight to twelve with a more visible ashore programme. €500,000–€1,200,000 for the week.

For clients whose brief is centred on Show hosting rather than cruising, deck configuration and berth position matter more than length overall. A 55m with a well-configured aft deck, well-placed inside the harbour, will host better than a 75m in a less-accessible quay.

Show-week logistics — the concierge stack

Nice-Côte d'Azur is the standard arrival airport; private aviation runs into Nice or Cannes-Mandelieu, with helicopter transfers to Monaco (Monacair, seven-minute flight). LYC Monaco coordinates the arrival window against the yacht's boarding time.

Provisioning during Show week is quoted separately in APA and typically runs 30–40% above regular season — Monaco's caterers, florists and specialist providers all book out by mid-September. Chef briefs, wine lists and preference sheets are finalised four to six weeks before boarding.

Show passes, exhibitor invitations, After-Show party access and shipyard introductions are handled directly by the client with the Show or by LYC Monaco's concierge desk where a formal introduction is helpful.
