Celebrations aboard — Monaco and the Riviera
Birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, milestone dinners and quiet family celebrations — a chartered yacht in Monaco is one of the most intimate and controllable private venues in Europe. Every detail is arranged discreetly, from florists and musicians to fireworks over the bay.
In short
Small elopement-style ceremonies and receptions are straightforward. Larger weddings (30+ guests with a full ceremony) typically use the yacht for the reception dinner and the ceremony ashore at a Monaco venue — the two are coordinated end-to-end.

Why a yacht for a celebration
Celebrations aboard work because the yacht itself is both the venue and the frame. There is no shared restaurant, no other party at the next table, no crowd walking past. The guest list is closed, the seating plan is set, and the crew — captain, chef, chief stewardess, service team — is briefed weeks in advance on exactly what the evening should feel like. Guests board, dinner unfolds, and the yacht either stays at anchor with the harbour lights as the backdrop or repositions gently along the coast during the meal.
Anniversary and milestone dinners
Twenty-fifth, fortieth, seventieth birthdays and wedding anniversaries are the most common celebration format we handle. The evening is usually built around a private dinner on the aft deck for 8–20 guests: sunset aperitifs on the sundeck, a plated dinner at a single long table set with the client's preferred florals and linens, and a moving-toast-and-cake service after the main course. Menus are planned two to three weeks in advance with the chef; wine pairings are arranged with the sommelier or brought aboard from the client's own cellar.
Proposals and elopements
A yacht is an unusually good stage for a proposal. Anchoring off Cap Ferrat at sunset, a private aperitif on the bow, and — if requested — a photographer positioned discreetly from the tender. Small elopement ceremonies aboard are also possible with the appropriate legal celebrant arranged ashore; the reception dinner then takes place aboard that same evening or the following night. Every element is planned to remain private and to leave no imprint the guests do not want.
Larger receptions and event evenings
For celebrations of 30–80 guests, a yacht moored alongside in Port Hercule becomes a walking-and-standing venue: a cocktail on the sundeck, hors d'oeuvres circulated by the service team, a live musician or small DJ set up on the aft deck, and a running kitchen reinforced by a Monaco caterer working alongside the yacht's chef. Larger superyachts handle 100+ for a walking format; the captain confirms the exact limit against the flag and the berth.
Provisioning — flowers, wine, cake, entertainment
Every detail can be arranged in advance and is handled by the concierge rather than the client. Florists in Monaco and Nice work directly with the chief stewardess on a table design. Cakes are commissioned from a specific patissier and delivered aboard the afternoon of the event. Wines can be provisioned from the yacht's own cellar or brought aboard from the client's collection with the appropriate paperwork. Live musicians (a pianist for cocktails, a jazz trio for dinner, a DJ for later) are booked six to eight weeks ahead.
Photography and video
A dedicated photographer or videographer can be brought aboard for the evening — either a Monaco-based professional we recommend or the client's own team. The brief is agreed in advance: what is captured, what is not, and how the images are delivered. Photographs are for the client's use only and are never shared publicly without approval.
Fireworks and special moments
Private firework displays over the bay can be arranged with the appropriate permits and are best coordinated with a Monaco-based event partner. Displays typically fire from a barge moored a safe distance from the yacht and run three to seven minutes. Permits require several weeks of lead time; costs range from €15,000 to €80,000 depending on the display scale.
Discretion
Every celebration is arranged privately. Guest lists, evening plans, menus and photographs are never shared without explicit approval. The crews we work with treat this as a baseline. Nothing is posted publicly, ever, without your say-so.
Frequently asked questions
Can we host a wedding aboard a yacht in Monaco?+

How far in advance should we plan a celebration aboard?+
For a specific yacht in high season (July, August, event weeks), plan four to six months ahead. Shoulder-season celebrations (May, June, September, October) can often be arranged inside two months if flexibility on yacht choice is possible.
Can we bring our own wine or cake aboard?+

Yes, with permits and an event partner. Displays fire from a barge moored a safe distance from the yacht and run three to seven minutes. Lead time is several weeks; costs range from €15,000 to €80,000 depending on scale.
